So today we are going to introduce you this occasion. Are you ready? We are starting.
Of course, we understand quite well that the explanation of the matter what day I Forgot Day in 2022 is would be incomplete without the representation of the historical background of the event. As a rule, this direction is of the greatest demand among our followers.
However, unfortunately, this time we haven’t managed to find something amazing about the establishers of this holiday as well as about the reasons to hold it on July 2nd annually. But we are sure that no matter, who those people were, the main thing they wanted was to improve their ability to memorize things and to remember something important.

Why is our memory so strangely arranged that we sometimes cannot remember the obvious things, but remember what we must forget? – That is the direction for some sciences.
The question “When is International I Forgot Day 2022?” is not as easy as it may seem at the first sight. It contains a lot of amazing facts.
There are special cells in the brain that clean up unnecessary memories, such as night dreams. In experiments on mice, Japanese scientists have found that cells that produce melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH) contribute to forgetting dreams. This hormone is not only responsible for human appetite, but also participates in the regulation of REM sleep. The well-coordinated work of MCH cells helps rid the brain of unnecessary information, so we almost never remember our dreams, which come to us in a fast phase, when these cleaning cells are especially active.
Remembering the name of an actor or finding the keys left in the evening can sometimes be difficult. It takes a lot of effort to recover the information you need. Forgetting is a natural process that is designed to unload the nervous system from unclaimed information, to protect it from overstraining. But increased forgetfulness can significantly complicate life. It can be caused by lack of sleep, stress, addictions, or information overload.
If this problem is not related to injury or illness, it is realistic to solve it on your own. Memory can be developed and improved like any other ability. To activate its potential, regular exercise is necessary, as in sports or music. And vice versa – in their absence, the ability of the brain to memorize will decrease.
When is I Forgot Day in 2022, calendar will surely remind you. As a rule, it is not a serious problem to memorize it, as the occasion has a fixed date of its celebration. It is held on July 2nd annually, so you are free to join any moment you would like to do it.
Of course, it would be quite silly to expect that the local authorities would organize something special devoted to this event. That is why if you want to have a holiday, just create it for yourself and your close surrounding.
What about starting to improve your memory on July 2nd? We are sure it is going to be a perfect idea! Do you know how achieve your goal? – Well, no problems, we will help you!
- Create associations and visualizations. The essence of this method is to combine new information with familiar markers.
- Study poetry and read aloud. The time-tested method is memorizing poems. But it doesn’t have to be mindless cramming, of course.
- Try to remember the forgotten material. You do not need to take a shopping list prepared before going to the store. On the one hand, such a list will help not to miss anything and at the same time not to buy too much. On the other hand, its absence will have a positive effect on the state of memory.
- Learn foreign languages. This is one of the best ways to activate your brain cells and expand your memory. If you memorize a few words every day, then after a couple of months you can feel a noticeable result.
- Remember the events of the day. Before going to bed, try to reconstruct snippets of dialogue, images of people, their facial expressions and gestures, every phone call and meals that made up your diet.
- Play mind games. It can be puzzles, chess, backgammon, sudoku, poker, various puzzles and puzzles. Mind games activate the brain, train memory and attention.
- Change your route. The brain needs constant variety and new experiences to function. At the same time, try to note around you any minor details, the clothes of passers-by, the filling of windows, signs, houses and shops.
- Lead a healthy lifestyle. Fresh air, sports and good sleep are important factors without which normal memory functioning is impossible.
National I Forgot Day Facts
Investigating the direction “What is the date of I Forgot Day?” we found a lot of amazing pieces of information. Today we are going to share some of them with our followers.
Today, scientists have access to the latest medical technology, and they look at the problem of forgetting at the neuronal level.
Not long ago, neuroscientists found an area in the human brain, which is responsible for memory. It is called the hippocampus. And it is there that memory consolidation occurs, that is, the transition of short-term memory to long-term memory.
Experts from the Joint Center for Neural Genetics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA and the RIKEN Institute of Brain Science in Japan went further and, using optogenetics, were able to find special nerve cells that act as “cells” for storing memories. These cells were called engram cells (from the Greek “engram” – “internal record”).
The work was led by the Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, Japanese molecular biologist Suzumi Tonegawa. Under his leadership, in 2016, a line of genetically modified mice was created with a model of Alzheimer’s disease and altered engram cells, which were activated by laser light during experiments. The mice, who received electric shocks, forgot about torture, but under the influence of light on the engram cells, they suddenly remembered them and did not want to go to the cell.
So scientists understood the mechanism of forgetting: it turned out that the reason lies in neural connections. In mice with amnesia, the density of dendritic spines in engram cells was reduced – these subtle outgrowths on neurons provide them with a connection with each other. Cell activation restored spine density and memory returned.
These experiences became the key to understanding the mechanisms of short-term memory.
