World Opera Day

On October 25, various countries celebrate the World Opera Day, which unites artists and fans of opera art. This new holiday arose in 2019. The date was not chosen by chance – Georges Bizet and Johann Strauss were born on October 25. The joint initiative of the celebration belongs to the organizations of Opera Europe, Opera America and Opera Latin America. The idea was supported by all the leading cultural institutions of the world.

The celebration is held in order to connect humanity to the beautiful, to increase society’s interest in opera art and its values. Opera is an international language understood by representatives of all peoples and nationalities. So that anyone who wants to be able to participate in grand opera events, the OperaVision virtual platform has been developed to broadcast performances anywhere in the world on every continent. Fans can hear addresses and watch video messages from representatives of the world’s leading opera houses.
