On April 28, the art of poetry and famous poets who wrote great works are honored. In the United States, this day has been celebrated since at least 1994.

It is believed that poetry was the predecessor of writing. Ancient tales, legends, epics have reached our times precisely in poetic form.

In Ukraine A day of reading great poetry are celebrated by organizing thematic evenings, events in libraries, holding creative contests. In order to increase cultural education, educational programs are created in schools and lessons are held with the reading of poems and the study of poets’ biographies.
