International Eskimo Day

On January 24, an international “sweet” event is celebrated – Eskimo day, or International Eskimo Pie Day. There is no such person who does not know how creamy ice cream on a stick, covered with chocolate glaze, looks and tastes.

It was on January 24, 1922 that Christian Nelson – a cook, confectioner and sweet shop owner in America – officially patented this type of dessert. His first ice in chocolate glaze and on a stick, Nelson released it back in 1919 and was a success. Ice cream quickly gained popularity and found its supporters. The confectioner called his cold creation “Eskimo Pie” in English. This name has taken root so deeply that it has become nominal.

There is information that the first eskimo was prepared in Ancient Rome, but the story of the American confectioner is considered to be its official appearance. The ice cream holiday is not official, so it does not have any approved traditions. If you like ice cream, January 24 is just for you.
