Day of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea

January 20 is celebrated Day of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. This day is associated with the holding of a referendum in 1991 regarding the creation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea as part of Ukraine. Then 93% of the inhabitants of the peninsula agreed to it.

The years of sovereignization were marked by economic crises, changes in forms of government, and international and social conflicts. But the common sense and wisdom of the Crimeans made it possible to build peaceful and mutually beneficial relations with the state, unite people of different nationalities and overcome the financial downturn in the economy.

Since the beginning of 2014 Autonomous Republic of Crimea is a temporarily occupied territory deprived of all powers granted by Ukrainian autonomy. But the current international protocols continue to testify that Crimea is the territory of Ukraine, and peaceful measures regarding the return of the peninsula are not stopped.
