April 12 is celebrated every year World Day of Action on Military Spending. The event was initiated by the Institute of International Studies together with the International Peace Bureau.

Such a holiday is aimed at increasing public awareness of the amount of money spent on the armed forces.

Ukraine spends about 5 billion dollars a year on defense.
