On July 29 every year, Ukraine celebrates a rather young professional holiday – Day of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces. The event was launched on July 26, 2016. This branch of the Armed Forces was formed on January 5 of the same year.

The Special Operations Forces Day of the Ukrainian Armed Forces aims to draw the attention of Ukrainians to the important role of the Special Operations Forces for national defense, thank the military for their diligent work for the benefit of Ukraine and heroism during the anti-terrorist operation, and the development of military traditions.

• Candidates for service in the Special Operations Forces undergo a rigorous examination, as a result of which about 90% of soldiers are cut out.
