International Day of Yoga

Every year on June 21, the world celebrates the youth health holiday – International Yoga Day. The event was launched by the United Nations in 2014.

The history of the International Day of Yoga

The date of the celebration is chosen in honor of the summer solstice. During the first celebration, in 2015, as many as 35,000 people practiced yoga at the same time (a yoga session entered the Guinness Book of Records). Ukraine also participates in the celebration thanks to the Ukrainian Yoga Federation.

Yoga is an Indian spiritual and physical practice that changes the human mind and body. Yoga classes help to feel the fusion of soul and body, unity with nature and with oneself. Practice improves mental and physical health, promotes a healthy lifestyle.


Purpose of International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day aims to draw humanity’s attention to this practice, to engage in yoga for global well-being, and to raise awareness about yoga.

How to spend this day?

Large-scale yoga sessions, festivals and lectures are being organized until June 21.
