Day of the Ukrainian volunteer

Every year on March 14, Ukraine celebrates a rather young holiday – Day of the Ukrainian volunteer. The event was established by the Verkhovna Rada on January 17, 2017 after a vote at a parliamentary session. The date of the celebration was chosen in honor of the day the first Maidan volunteers arrived in Novi Petrovka for combat training in 2014.

Day of the Ukrainian volunteer aims to strengthen the patriotic spirit, thank the volunteer soldiers for their heroism in the struggle to preserve the sovereignty of Ukraine, and draw the people’s attention to the volunteer defenders.

On March 14, various thematic events are organized in military, educational and cultural institutions.
