International Day of the African Diaspora
The Day of the African Diaspora is celebrated on the first Sunday of October. The African diaspora today is the result of the enslavement of the peoples of Africa, their forced resettlement in different countries. Due to the fact that the population of the continent was sold as slaves, there are now many people of African origin living in the territory of various countries, in particular, the USA, Canada and Brazil.
Since then, two more reasons have been added to the factors of emigration. First, after the European colonies in Africa gained independence, their inhabitants got the opportunity to move to the metropolis on preferential terms. Second, Africans were forced to leave their homes due to constant wars, hunger, and poverty in newly independent countries.
