World Film Day was established by the third Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2020 to celebrate the ability of films to engage, connect and inspire people around the world. Held every year on the second Saturday of February.

Celebrate the holiday by watching and discussing movies that have inspired you over the years.

The holiday should also encourage people:

• share movie recommendations and find movies you’ve never seen before;
• watch your favorite movies with friends;
• go to the cinema to see something new.
