Every year on December 29, Ukraine celebrates a professional national event – Day of information and media structures of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces. The event was launched on December 27, 2010. The date of the celebration is set in honor of the establishment of the press service of the Ministry of Defense and the appointment of the military press secretary of the now sovereign state.

The Day of Information and Media Structures of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine was implemented to increase the prestige of the profession, as well as a day of gratitude for the dedicated and professional activity of workers in this field.

Military journalists often risk their lives in order to truthfully and quickly inform society about events in the front zones. In addition, they tell the general public about the everyday life of the army, about its problems and tasks. A military journalist is an intermediary between the people and the army, who maintains public trust in the military.
