Mathematician’s Day

An unofficial professional holiday of mathematics teachers is celebrated annually on April 1 – Mathematician’s Day. The event was founded by students of the Novosibirsk Humanitarian University in the 1900s.

the purpose Mathematician of the day is a thank you to the teachers and lecturers of this fundamental and complex science for their efforts, as well as drawing the attention of pupils and students to the importance of studying mathematics.

On April 1, seminars, open lessons, conferences, awards, tea parties, mathematical Olympiads, concert events dedicated to mathematicians, etc. are organized.

  • The Italian Pisano invented negative numbers in the 13th century, thus he calculated his own monetary debts. However, negative numbers began to be actively used only in the 19th century.
