World Development Information Day

October 24 is World Development Information Day. The purpose of the holiday is to draw the attention of people who think about the future to the problem of development, as well as to develop a strategy for its solution thanks to international cooperation.

This event was introduced by the UN General Assembly in 1972. October 24 was not chosen by chance, because it was on this day in 1945 that this post-war international organization was created and the strategy for its development was adopted.

The holiday was established in accordance with resolution 3038, the requirements of which were to annually draw people’s attention to development issues. Since 1973, events have been held on October 24 to highlight the importance of international cooperation. Special attention is paid to informing and strengthening the motivation of young people, as well as focusing on the use of modern information technologies.
