Violin Day

Every year, December 13 is celebrated around the world Violin Day. This stringed bowed musical instrument is among the most popular.

Initially, the violin was only a folk instrument, and the modern, so-called aristocratic, design of the violin was developed in the 16th century in Italy – Andrea Amati and Gasparo da Salo argue among themselves for the title of inventor. In the Baroque period, professional violin flourished (early 16th – late 18th century). In Ukraine, this musical instrument became widespread from the 17th century, becoming a folk instrument.

The most famous violinists: Niccolo Paganini, Arcangelo Corelli, Antonio Vivaldi, Ivan Handoshko, Giuseppe Tartini and others. Amati, Stradivari and Guarneri instruments are considered the highest quality violins.
