World Oatmeal Festival
Every year on the second Friday of April, the American city of St. George celebrates its own three-day holiday called World Oatmeal Festival (World Festival of Oatmeal). In 2022, the date of the celebration falls on April 8. The event was started by an employee of a local supermarket, Bill Hunter, who noticed the active sale of oatmeal in St. Georgia and decided to tell the world about it, as well as remind Americans about the importance of a healthy diet.
Traditionally to World Oatmeal Festival residents of the city organize various competitions using oatmeal, taste delicious dishes, dance and have fun. The winners of the “oatmeal” competitions receive a scholarship.
Oatmeal lowers cholesterol, normalizes blood pressure, improves immunity, protects against depression, increases energy, reduces the risk of colon cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
