The day of memory of monks Karion the monk and his son Zacharias
December 18 is celebrated the day of memory of monks Karion the monk and his son Zacharias. They both lived a holy life in a monastery, but they always heard complaints from their brothers because of their kinship. Father and son steadfastly bore these reproaches and did not deny each other under any circumstances.
Karion was born in Egypt, where he married. The wife gave birth to a son and a daughter. But for the sake of serving God, he went to the monastery, where he soon took Zacharias. The monks resisted them, so the boy decided to die after sitting in the poisoned lake for an hour. But God gave him life, and the holy presbyter of the monastery had a vision that Zachary was an angel on earth. After that, they came to him with questions about the salvation of the soul, but the boy considered himself unworthy to answer such questions, so he took a vow of silence.
Soon father and son died and were buried in the hermitage as saints.
