Physiotherapist’s Day
September 8 is held every year in the world World Physical Therapy Day, Physiotherapist Day or International Physiotherapy Day. This holiday was introduced in 1951 by the International Confederation of Physiotherapy (WCPT). The WCPT has more than 300,000 physical rehabilitation professionals from more than 100 countries around the world. Ukraine became an associate member of WCPT in 2010.
- Every month, physical therapists around the world help thousands of people to reduce their chances of contracting non-communicable diseases. They carry out preventive measures that strengthen health, improve well-being, and help restore working capacity in people with injuries or disabilities.
According to WHO data, mortality from non-communicable diseases accounts for a significant share. At the same time, a sedentary way of life aggravates the situation. Properly selected therapy and procedures help to reduce these mortality rates. Research shows that 30 minutes of moderate exercise 5 times a week significantly reduces the risk of many non-communicable diseases.
This day is a good opportunity to spread information about the important role of physical therapy in maintaining health and restoring physical activity in injured people.
