International Housing Day

The first Monday of October is the day when the world celebrates World Habitat Day. This day was started in order to solve the problems that arise in the living conditions of people in settlements.

Every year since 1986, World Habitat Day has been organized with a specific theme to help people get affordable housing. For the first time, this day was held in the capital of Kenya, under the theme “Asylum is my right”. The main task of the holiday is to inform the world about the state of settlements and their environment.

In 1978, a UN program was established in Kenya, which is closely related to the purpose of Habitat Day. It should resolve issues related to ensuring normal living conditions of people, taking into account their interests. The main ones include: preservation of park areas, providing settlements with drinking water, inexpensive transport and necessary sanitary conditions.
