World Cosplay Day

World Cosplay Day is celebrated on November 3. This day was not chosen by chance, as November 3 is the annual culture day in Japan. The holiday of cosplay provides an opportunity to get to know the characters of comics, computer games, anime and manga better, because now they are most often chosen as images for reincarnation.

But the story of its origin began back in 1939 in New York. At that time, there was a science fiction conference, and science fiction writers Forest Akerman and Myrtle Douglas came dressed as fictional characters. The next time, the number of people in disguise spread, and it became a good tradition. But the Second World War forced to forget about such a holiday for a while, so interest in costume events was revived only in the 60s of the 20th century.

After visiting America in 1984, writer Nobuyuki Takahashi was so inspired by the idea of recreating the images of his favorite heroes that he coined the term “cosplay” after returning to Japan. Soon, cosplay turned into a whole culture and spread all over the world.
