Human Rights Day

Every year on December 10, humanity celebrates an international event – Human Rights Day. The official declaration of Human Rights Day was made in 1950 at the initiative of the UN.

The date of the celebration was chosen in honor of the adoption by the United Nations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which took place in Paris in 1958. This declaration opened the door to the creation of human rights documents. It is an international act that proclaims equal rights to human freedom and responsibility before the law, regardless of gender, race, religion, etc. The principles of this document underlie treaties, conventions and covenants on human rights.

Human Rights Day aims to draw the attention of mankind to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and to observe the principles of this international document. After all, after the Second World War, the whole planet united for the sake of creating a single and general mechanism for the protection of human rights.
