Grenache International Wine Day
Every year on the third Friday of September, the world celebrates International Grenache Wine Day or in Spanish – Garnacha. In 2010, winemakers from all over the world gathered in the Rhone Valley, where the symposium took place. Having recognized Grenache as the best grape variety, a separate day was assigned to it. After that, wine tastings began to be celebrated in France, Great Britain, Asia, the USA and Australia.
Grenache is a red grape variety grown in the northern part of Spain. Produced approximately in the middle of the 17th century. It was one of the first grape varieties to come to Australia. Since the 19th century, the variety began to spread throughout Europe. Despite its Spanish origin, now the largest Grenache plantations are located in France. And it is here that they make the most delicious white wine – Grenache Blanc.
Grenache wine makes interesting blends. Red blends are especially tasty.
