World Student Day

On October 15, the youth of the world celebrate World Student Day. For many who study in colleges, gymnasiums, universities, World Student Day is an opportunity to participate in cooperation between students of different countries. In 2010, this date was included in the list of official UN holidays.

There are two versions of the origin of World Student Day. According to the first version, the holiday was initially considered a day of remembrance for more than 1,200 students of the University of Prague who died during the Second World War.

According to another version, the holiday was created in honor of the birthday (October 15, 1931) of the famous Indian scientist and statesman Avul Maraikaiyar, who served as the President of India in 2002-2007 and supported students.

The celebration of the event takes place with the demonstration of acts of social responsibility of the youth, voluntary participation in sports competitions and socially useful activities, holding charity events. As part of the festive events, meetings between students from different countries are held.
