Every year on November 3, Ukraine officially celebrates the Day of Engineer Forces. The holiday is a professional day for all servicemen of the engineering forces of Ukraine. This day appeared thanks to President Leonid Kuchma, who signed the Decree on October 25, 1999, establishing the annual celebration of the Day of Engineer Forces.

Mastering the newest means of warfare and introducing them into the army belongs to the engineering forces. They are the troops of the front edge, so during the attack they act first, while ensuring the advance of tankmen and motorized riflemen. Engineer troops in peacetime have no less important tasks: detection and destruction of mines, grenades, shells; disposal of obsolete ammunition; protection of structures during ice drifts and floods.
