How did the idea to celebrate the Day of Missile Troops and Artillery of Ukraine come about?
The events of the Second World War became a prerequisite for establishing this day. Namely, the beginning of the operation to liberate Kyiv. During the operation, a firing technique was used that had not been used before.
On that day, in incredibly difficult conditions, the artillery managed to secure a fateful breakthrough. The fire of the first breakthrough raged continuously for forty minutes, thus creating a zone of continuous fire.
At the cost of numerous losses, the capital was freed from the invaders, but the importance of the first breakthrough remained unchanged. In order to honor the gunners and rocket launchers, who were not afraid to risk their lives and went to any lengths for victory, a holiday was appointed in their honor.
