Day of the Magician (Day of Smoke and Mirrors)
Every year on March 29, magicians celebrate their own professional holiday – Magician’s Day (Day of Smoke and Mirrors).
Magician (or illusionist) – a circus master, an artist who demonstrates various tricks (called tricks) to the public, the secret of which is illusion of vision and sleight of hand. Thanks to the art of illusion, magicians create the impression of a violation of the physical properties of objects. Often, illusionists distract the attention of the viewer, for example, with the help of assistants.
Professional magicians appeared in the Middle Ages. In the 18th century, a chess slot machine called “Turk” was widely known. People thought that the device played chess on its own, but in fact a talented chess player was sitting in it. Card conjurers used to be called conjurers, and now card tricks have separated into a large popular variety of the art of illusion.
