Bright Wednesday

Happy Wednesday celebrated on the third day after Easter. Bright Wednesday is part of Bright Week, the week that begins on Easter Sunday. Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, honoring his memory and expressing joy. This Wednesday is also called “Gradova”. It was impossible to work, otherwise the crop could die from hail. The second name is “Horovodnytsia”. On Bright Wednesday, believers went to dance, have fun, lead dances and sing songs.

On this day, processions are held to the bell. In the church, instead of the morning and evening services, joyful prayers are sung, which are called the Hours of Holy Easter. The usual weekly fast observed on Wednesdays and Fridays is cancelled.

IN Holy Wednesday one should think about good things, listen to good music, help the needy, celebrate Christ’s resurrection and rest.
