World Injury Day
Every year on October 17, World Trauma Day is celebrated. This event was first held in 2011 in New Delhi. According to WHO statistics, various injuries are the main cause of death and disability around the globe.
Trauma is a violation of the integrity of tissues (skin, muscles, bones, etc.) or the processes that occur in them under the influence of environmental factors. The cause of injuries can be chemical, mechanical or physical factors.
This event is held in order to draw society’s attention to the causes and consequences of injuries, as well as draw attention to the problems of socialization of injured people, their quality of life. Also, the goal of this initiative is to increase the awareness of adults and children about how to reduce the risk of injury and reduce the likelihood of fatalities.
People should know:
- that safety rules must be observed,
- one must bear responsibility for their violation,
- how to provide first aid to the victim,
- about the negative impact of the use of alcoholic beverages, drugs, and psychotropic drugs.
