World Glaucoma Day
We celebrate March 6 every year World Glaucoma Daywhich has been celebrated since 2008 on the initiative of the World Association of Patients and the World Organization of Glaucoma Societies.
Glaucoma is a group of severe chronic eye diseases that lead to complete blindness due to increased intraocular pressure and atrophy of the optic nerve.
World Glaucoma Day aims to involve society in timely diagnosis of the disease and mandatory treatment. The problem is a late visit to the doctor, when vision is almost lost. There are about 100 million people with glaucoma, so it is extremely important to raise awareness about the sad consequences of the disease.
