World Grain Day or International Whole Grain Day

World Grain Day is celebrated on November 19. The second name of this holiday is the International Day of Whole Grain Products. The celebration’s initiative aims to remind humanity of the importance of food security and the creation of viable, productive and healthy food systems. Whole grain crops make it possible to save water, their cultivation is accompanied by less waste, and contributes to rational land use.

Various organizations participate in the festive events. Among them are the International Diabetes Federation IDF Europe, the International Center for the Improvement of Maize and Wheat CIMMYT, the International Association of Grain Science and Technology, etc. The task is to increase the awareness of the world society about the benefits of whole grain products for nutrition, to promote the need for the transition of countries’ economies to an ecologically stable future.
