Memorial Day of the Holy Martyr Peter of Alexandria
Orthodox believers celebrate December 8 the day of memory of the holy martyr Peter of Alexandria. During the bloody persecution of Christians, the martyr stood at the head of the Alexandria temple and preached Christian teachings. The townspeople who went to his service were baptized in whole families. Because of this, the saint was sentenced to death.
The people who infinitely loved and respected the archbishop were indignant and did not want to put up with the injustice of the emperor. Then Peter, trying to avoid the bloodshed of the common people, wished to carry out his own death sentence in secret. He himself went to the executioners and was executed in the same place as the apostle Mark.
On the night when the holy martyr was killed, a recluse girl prayed near his coffin. During prayer, she heard a voice from heaven announcing the end of Christian suffering.
