Memorial day of the holy prophet Ezekiel

August 3 is celebrated by Christians Prophet Ezekiel’s day. This saint lived at the turn of the VII-VI centuries BC, in the time of Jeremiah and Daniel. Ezekiel was born – a descendant of the ancient family of Levi in the city of Sarir in the family of the priest Vuziya. Ezekiel himself chose the same path as his father.

At the age of 25, after the conquest of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar, the prophet, along with many others, was captured by Babylon. During these times, his home in a village near the Khovara River became a spiritual center for Jewish exiles. After 5 years of captivity, the prophet, praying on the bank of the river, first received a revelation – a vision about the future of humanity and the fate of the Jewish people.

In addition to the gift of prophecy, Ezekiel received from God the gift of miracle-working, like the prophet Moses. Once he helped the Jews to escape from the persecution of the Chaldeans and by the power of prayer formed a passage across the Khovara River (divided it), and then during a famine he begged the Creator for food for the starving. He prophesied all his life, called people to repentance with his fiery speeches, exposed apostasy from the true Creator, and performed miracles.

For the fact that the prophet exposed the idolatry of a Jewish prince, he was brutally executed, torn to pieces. All the teachings and prophecies of Ezekiel are recorded in a book named after him and added to the Bible.
