Day of memory of the holy martyr Jeremiah

On July 19 every year, the Christian church honors the memory of the holy martyr Jeremiahwho endured cruel torture and was executed for his faith in the Lord.

Jeremiah lived in the 2nd century, was born in Athens. During his lifetime, the saint actively spread Christianity. One day, in the city of Comana, subordinates of the emperor Antoninus Pius captured Jeremiah and his five disciples during the persecution of Christians. The holy martyr did not renounce the faith of Christ, went through incredible torture and miraculously remained alive. Then the enraged ruler Sebastian beheaded the saint himself. Jeremiah’s disciples also did not betray the Lord and accepted martyrdom.
