International Day of the Tropics
International Day of the Tropics is held on June 29. On June 14, 2016, the UN decided to announce June 29 International Day of the Tropics. The date of the determination was chosen in connection with the anniversary of the debut “Report on the State of the Tropics”.
Tropics
Tropics occupy 40% of our entire planet. They are a home for 80% of living creatures – plants, animals. More than 800 million people live in this territory. About 20% of the inhabitants of this zone do not have access to drinking water. In this zone, a third of people face difficulties related to obtaining electricity. Because of this, children cannot study, do homework after dark, families do not have unhindered access to the Internet, industry and shops cannot turn on cooling systems. It is necessary to constantly allocate funds to solve problems related to infrastructure and ecology in the tropics.
The purpose of the International Day of the Tropics
The purpose of this day is to draw attention to problems related to the tropics that need to be solved as soon as possible.
