World Day of People with Foot Deformity (World Clubfoot Day)

June 3 – World Day of People with Foot Deformity, which calls for awareness of the existence and treatment options for clubfoot. Clubfoot Day coincides with the date of birth of the Spanish orthopedist Ignacio Ponseti, who invented the method of correcting foot deformity, namely plastering. Now the technique is actively used in medicine for the purpose of complete or partial elimination of signs of leg deformation.

The impact of a deformed foot on the body

Clubfoot interferes not only with the normal functioning of the foot. With the disease, the whole body gradually begins to suffer, when the weight of the body becomes uneven and shifts forward. Therefore, it is important to start treatment as soon as possible.

  • Deformation of the foot – a congenital disease. It affects about 0.3% of newborns. It is most often diagnosed in male children. It is also possible to develop clubfoot as a result of injuries, inflammation of the joints, paralysis of the leg muscles.
