World day of cold producers
On June 26, 2019, the world community celebrated for the first time World Cold Day. On this day in 1824, an outstanding British scientist, Lord Kelvin Thomson, who created the temperature scale, was born.
World Cold Day established in 2018 by the Secretariat of the international event in the English city of Derbyshire and was supported by UNIDO. Stephen Gill, former head of the Institute of Refrigeration in Great Britain, proposed the celebration.
The purpose of World Refrigeration Day
This event is dedicated to informing the public about the importance of the refrigeration industry in the development of many areas of human activity, for example, medicine and pharmaceuticals, food industry.
To support the organization and conduct of events to World Cold Day a dedicated website, worldrefrigerationday.org, has been developed where volunteers can register to receive news about the event.
