Syrian Independence Day

April 17 every year Syria celebrates its own independence daybecause it was on this day in 1946 that the country received the desired freedom from France.

Syria is a republican country in the Middle East, which is washed by the Mediterranean Sea. The capital is the city of Damascus, which, by the way, is considered the oldest city on Earth. The vast majority of Syrians practice Islam, the state language is Arabic. The population of the country is about 22 million.

Currently, the civil war that started in 2011 continues in Syria. As a result of military operations, the state’s economy is in decline.


Syria is famous for a large number of historical monuments, because many different civilizations existed on the territory of the country (Babylon, Roman Empire, Byzantium, Persia, Ottoman Empire, etc.).
