Proclamation Day of the Italian Republic
Proclamation Day of the Italian Republic celebrated on June 2. The history of its emergence is connected with the referendum that took place in 1946. It was on this day that the citizens of Italy made a historic decision to change the government in the country from a monarchy to a republic. By the way, for the first time women were allowed to participate in the referendum.
Italy was declared a republic by the majority of votes (55%). Since then, June 2 is celebrated as her birthday.
Traditions of the celebration of the Day of the Proclamation of the Italian Republic
The traditions of the celebration include holding military parades, which are held especially solemnly in Rome. Columns formed by representatives of various branches of the military pass along the avenue of the Imperial Forums. Fighter jets fly in the sky, spraying the colors of the national flag – red, white and green.
