Memorial Saturday of the second week of Holy Pentecost

Every year the Orthodox Church celebrates Memorial Saturday of the second week of Holy Pentecost (Great Lent). In 2022, this day falls on March 19. In total, Pentecost lasts for six weeks.

Memorial Saturday dedicated to commemorating deceased relatives and acquaintances with prayer, as well as visiting the cemetery. Attendance at the service is mandatory. There are only three of them: the great Friday memorial service, the morning Divine Liturgy and the general memorial service.

  • On this day, it is forbidden to have fun, drink alcohol, fight and leave the church until the end of the service.
