Memorial Day of Reverend Nikodym Tysmanskyi

Memory of Reverend Nicodym Tysmanskyi is celebrated on January 8. According to historical information, he came from a Serbian family. Having obtained a high-level spiritual education, Nicodemus took the monastic vows and humbly prayed to God every day.

Later, after receiving spiritual rank, the monk went into seclusion in order to better learn dispassion and wisdom. They turned to him for advice and blessings.

Monk Nikodim founded several churches and preached God’s word to his disciples. At the end of the 14th century, the Hungarians took possession of the land where Nikodim lived, and he was forced to seek refuge in the Tisman valley, in a cave. The Tismansky monastery, which became the center of spreading the knowledge of God, still stands there. The monk died quietly, from old age, but throughout his life he never once doubted the correctness of his path.
