International Stupid Walk Day

Since 2012 International Stupid Walk Day is celebrated on January 7. The idea of the celebration is inspired by the famous sketch from the British TV series “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, where the main character of John Cleese is a civil servant who makes a stupid move to the ministry. It was on this day in January that the first demonstration was held in honor of the stupid march. People decided not to change the traditions and now this date is permanent.

The organizers of the holiday later received support from Monty Python himself and began to hold annual festivals in the Czech town of Brno. The motto of people who go out to celebrate is: “The main thing is to have fun.”

Fool’s Day is celebrated in many countries of Europe and the world: in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Australia, Brazil, Great Britain, Canada and Iceland. Flash mobs dedicated to this day are constantly held in Germany.
