On December 12, the world society celebrates an interesting holiday – International Heavy Metal Day. International Day of Heavy Metal is one of the most popular holidays of heavy metal fans. This musical genre appeared in the 60s and 70s of the last century thanks to the musical groups Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and laid the foundation for the formation of many trends in rock. Among the legendary heavy metal groups, fans love the outstanding groups Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Manowar, Motorhead, Accept, which experienced their heyday in the 1980s.

The “Heavy Metal” festival was created on the initiative of British Iron Matthew Collins, an ardent fan of heavy music. The man tried to choose a date that he remembers well. So, the first holiday took place on 12.12.12 – on the 12th day of the 12th month of 2012. This started the tradition of the annual celebration of “Heavy Metal” day.
