International DNA Day
Every year on April 25, the planet celebrates a scientific holiday – International DNA Day. The date of the celebration was chosen in honor of the date of publication in the British journal Nature of information about the discovery of the DNA macromolecule, which took place on this day in 1953. The event was celebrated for the first time in 2003.
Molecular structure DNA stores genetic information. The discovery of the DNA helix made it possible to establish hereditary links, find genetic risks, produce genetic engineering technologies, etc. DNA became known to the world thanks to the work of such scientists as D. Watson, M. Wilkins, F. Crick and R. Franklin.
purpose International DNA Day is drawing the attention of humanity to the importance of the discovery of the DNA molecule, the spread of scientific development, thanks to geneticists.
