Every year on June 23, the world celebrates a rather young, but interesting holiday – International Women in Engineering Day. This event was started by the Society of Women Engineers in Great Britain in 2014. Already in 2016, UNESCO joined the celebration, thanks to which Day of Women Engineers acquired international status.

The purpose of International Women in Engineering Day

International Women in Engineering Day aims to draw public attention to the contribution of women to engineering, help overcome gender inequality, increase girls’ awareness of the place of women in engineering, overcome fears and encourage them to enter this specialty.

How is International Women in Engineering Day celebrated?

Until June 23, educational events are organized where female engineers talk about their own career path and the advantages of working for women in this field.

• According to Ukrainian statistics, girls show interest in the engineering profession three times less often than boys.
