International Coworking Day

To draw attention to the phenomenon coworking as very useful for improving labor efficiency and attracting even more residents to it, August 9 is definitely considered International coworking day. But this day is usually not marked by special events.

What is coworking?

Coworking – a relatively new concept, which means a modern way of organizing the work of people who are not tied to a certain space and hours. Today, during the development of freelancing, this is especially relevant. The participants of the movement organize their working life in the form of a collective office in the chosen territory. This allows you to help each other when needed, exchange ideas and communicate while remaining independent, which is difficult when working from home.

The history of the creation of the International Coworking Day

Co-working founder Brad Newberg tried to combine the advantages of office work and freelancing. So in 2005, exactly on August 9, the world’s first co-working office appeared in San Francisco, where several freelancers worked simultaneously. After 3 years, the phenomenon spread to the whole world.

Comfortable rented premises are chosen for work. Anyone who uses them regularly pays a monthly share of the rent. Also, collective offices can be organized in vacant premises that have lost their purpose, for example, former schools, workshops.
