Day of the allergist

Every year on October 16, the world celebrates Allergist Day. For the first time, the term “allergy” appeared in 1906, it was introduced into use by the pediatrician Clemens Von Pirke. He noticed in some of his child patients symptoms that could be caused by substances from the environment – plant pollen, mold spores, food, dust, etc. These substances are called “allergens”. This date is celebrated on the birthday of Clemens.

WHO recognized allergy as a disease of the current century. Allergists all over the world note with concern the accelerated rate of growth in the number of allergy sufferers. Only in the last 30 years, their number has increased 8 times, and this is not considered a limit. Forecasts are disappointing, the scale of the disease will spread due to global warming, increased use of chemical industry products, air pollution, widespread use of antibiotics from an early age for treatment and many other factors.

The purpose of the World Day of Allergists is to draw society’s attention to this dangerous disease, to increase awareness of the symptoms of the disease, its prevention and treatment.
