Every year, the second Sunday of August in Ukraine is marked by the celebration of Builder’s Day – a professional holiday not only for workers, but for all workers in the construction industry (engineers, foremen, repair specialists, housing and communal services workers, and others). Nikita Khrushchev initiated the celebration of this day in 1956. The date continued to be celebrated in Ukraine in accordance with the relevant presidential decree of July 22, 1993.

Builders are a special category of workers, heroes of many funny stories and objects of criticism. But you need to remember who owns the successes and achievements in the creation of grandiose, diverse and sometimes amazing buildings.

Builder’s Day is a holiday with a history. Many traditions laid down at the beginning of the celebration have reached us. The most interesting of them: “brick” tests for beginners, breaking a bottle of champagne, as well as awards. In Ukraine, there are special awards for “Best Builder”, “For Merit”, personal awards from ministers, etc.
