Coral Triangle Day
It is celebrated every year on June 9 Coral Triangle Day. The event is dedicated to the preservation of natural resources and biodiversity. The celebration was first held in 2012 by the Coral Triangle Initiative and has become an annual event that raises awareness of the importance of the ocean in human life and draws attention to the protection of natural resources.

- Coral triangle is a part of the world ocean covering Indonesia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, the Solomon Islands, East Timor.
- 76% of corals known to man are found in this area.
- Also, a large number of fish species live here – about 3,000.
- Occupies Coral triangle no more than 2% of the world ocean (7.5 million sq. km).
