Bicyclist’s Day

It is celebrated every year on June 3 in Europe Bicyclist’s Day, which is associated with the growing popularity of bicycles. The holiday was introduced on April 12, 2018 by the UN at the suggestion of sociologist Leszek Sibylski. The document was supported by 56 countries. The purpose of the holiday is to maintain the culture of cycling, because it is the most ecological and cheap option of transportation.

  • The holiday has great international significance. By promoting cycling, we can keep the environment clean.

Now Europeans are beginning to actively use this type of transport. According to statistics, the first place in the frequency of travel by bicycle is occupied by the Netherlands, where more than 90% of the population are cyclists.

And in Great Britain, wealthy people often switch to bicycles. Instead, English people with a small fortune prefer a private car or public transport.

In Germany, there is the city of Freiburg, which has set aside an entire quarter for movement only by bicycle. When approaching the block, you should leave your car in a special garage and switch to a two-wheeled vehicle.
