Perseids

The Perseids are a meteor shower that can be observed every year from the side of the Perseus constellation in the first half of August. It is one of the most powerful and available for observation. It is enough just to look at the sky – you are guaranteed to see a shooting star.

The Perseids can be observed from anywhere on the planet, but we are lucky, because this phenomenon is brightest in the northern hemisphere.

A shooting star is formed at the moment when the Earth passes through the plume of dust particles of Comet Swift-Tuttle. These particles are the size of a grain of sand and burn up in the atmosphere of our planet, forming a shooting star. The intensity of the flow gradually increases, reaches a peak, and then falls.

The shooting star can be observed from July 17 to August 24. The peak of the meteor shower will fall on August 12 and 13when it will be as visible and active as possible.

The peak itself can be observed on the night of August 13, around 2-3 am, before dawn. It is important that the weather is clear and then you can see about 60 flashes per hour. And the most important thing is that the sky is peaceful!

It is best to observe the fall of the Perseid star in an area that is as far as possible from illuminated metropolises and a large circle of artificial lighting, in an open space. But townspeople will also be able to see the brightest meteors in the dark. Warm clothes, a blanket, a thermos with tea and the stars are a well-spent time and memories of summer.

However, this year, due to the curfew and regular air strikes, Ukrainians will not be able to enjoy the August star fall. If you manage to spot a shooting star – make a wish! We all have one main desire now. Let the victory come as soon as possible and the peaceful sky will be our daily inspiration again!
